F75 Finds Me Wheaties

Got to go out to an old 1800s house yesterday for about an hour and a half. My neighbors daughter just bought the house and is fixing it up. She said we could detect the yards while leveling is being done and the grass is put in. Within 3 minutes of turning on the F75 I had my first wheat cent, a 1934S. Found 7 more wheats-20-39-42-45-48-51-52 all S mint marks, 67 dime and a 64D penny. Most were down 4-5" in a thick bed of pine needles.

I also recovered a Hubley Flintlock capgun from the 50s down about 6" and a pin. I think the pin is a Brownie pin because of the 3 clover leaves but its pretty corrododed and sitting in some soapy water right now. We plan on hitting it again later in the week and next week. I didn't take the small coil as I wanted to search the larger yard first. But ended up around all the 200-300 yr old trees. Its going with me the next trip.

Ran in the DE mode with sens at 40, 3F tone, notch at 25 and fast grabbed quite often. After I run over some ground and get all the solid targets out I will be going over it again in ALL Mteal and digging everything that beeps. I got a few beavertail, newer car parts and some sinkers. I know there has to be more toys and old toy cars out there. So taking the time and digging everything might bring out some nice toys, a token or some jewelry.

Love the cap gun. Pound the yard while you can. Where there are wheaties, there will be silver. Good luck! HH jim tn

That is interesting that the wheaties were only 4 to 5 inches deep, considering the accumulation of pine needles over the years. Were the overhanging trees very young? Nice assortment of wheaties. - Jim

Not sure why they were so shallow. The trees are huge and one was a giant doney tail pine. The needles around most of the trees were only about 1" deep also so I think they keep them thinned out in the main yard, The ones along the road were 3-4" deep were I found the gun and a couple more wheaties. Man I am chumping at the bit to go us there again this week. neighbor got called into work yeaterday and got a call at 5 this morning to run a freind to the airport. Was suppose to go beach hunting most of the day today but looks like Monday now. I think we're are heading for his daughters again tomorrow for a couple of hours.
