F75 finds, & 1st silver coin....

I hit another one of my "hunted out" house sites after work Friday and had another good hunt. I was mostly messing with the all metal mode and manual ground blancing to get prepared for DIV-7 next week. But, I also kinda found out sorta by accident is that the F75's all metal audio is so good, that I pulled much of the odds & ends out of the thick iron along the foundation by just looking at the numbers & digging if they were over 15. I'm sure most folks may noy enjoy hearing everything, but when you have a Colonial site and your trying to eke out 1 or 2 more targets, I think it's worth it. PLUS, the all metal mode seemingly has tones almost. Very hard to explain, but though it's 1 tone all metal, certain items give a higher squeal. Or the pitch is different, to my ears at least. You really have to try it to understand better. But, there are so many "process" combinations that I'm sure we will come up with an even nicer iron setting in disc soon enough.....
I started the hunt by fastGrab balancing & getting a ground reading of 65......
Away from the iron rich foundation I got a nice lock of 52....
It was a small caliber musketball. The odd shape shows it was fired...

A couple of buttons turned up....one looks like a Civil War era Navy, I need to check the button book (yea, my REAL one) ;) The other is a 1700's tombac type button which come out shiney. I think they are a mix of silver & pewter, or silver & something....Fun to find.

Just before I had to leave, I got another good target that jumped a bit, but only by a number or 2. The plug came out in a clump & in a spot we'd pounded I was surprised to see small silver. I was hoping Reale' or Bust dime, but it was a much later Merc Dime. The clod it was in showed it was tilted which explained the jumps (& maybe why we missed it before)....
But, still a 1918 merc dime is a keeper & my first piece of silver with the F75

I found all kinds of odds & ends, & was pretty happy with the results for a couple hour hunt after work before dark....
These are the all the finds in my hand...

When you get the opportunity, try zero disc. with the audio set at Delta Pitch. With the F-75's processor so fast, you will be able to hear those good targets in really close to the iron...again great finds....Richardntn

WTG Bill!

Sounds like the F-75 is going to be neat detector! The all metal mode is something I'll be trying out when my F-75 arrives, I've got a couple of old gold mining towns to try her out in.

Congrats and good luck next week at the DIV-7 hunt!

Nice finds Bill, your Naval button looks to be a Chief Petty Officer Naval button,Illustration NA 131A Pg 104 in Alberts book. Getting an F75 next week, can't wait to use it at some of my favorite Cellar Holes...

I just got in from my first outing with the F75 and must say Your
Right about the Tones in Motion All Metal. I spent most of my hunt
time in this mode. I must say also that this detector Provides a
wealth of Information as far as the Audio is concerned. That DD
Coil sure does separate targets Great! Although I need to brush up on my pinpointing as I never used a DD coil Before.

Thanks Rich. This style was copied throughout the 1900's for civilian blazers. This one didn't look like those though I didn't think...& the backmark looks civil war or just after...
HH,
Bill

I had never used a DD coil before the T2 myself. But, I have never mis-dug really because of the VCO audio & keeping a close eye on the inches. I think that is key on the f75 since many of us are usted to the Fisher spiders with the hole in the center....
HH,
Bill

I'm somewhat confused I guess because I don't know where the center is
on the DD coil when pinpointing.

Some folks will even put a drop of white paint there as like a bullseye to help until you become usted to it.
there's a little circle. That seems to be the "hot spot" for pinpointing...
I only have a few hours on the F75 in two sessions, but on mine I'm pinpointing right at the end of the rod to which the coil is attached. In fact, I usually PLEAD for a small shooter coil, because I'm such a lousey pinpointer. On the F75 I'm doing significantly better. Able to hit the coin by pushing the vibraprobe through the sod.
