F75,do I ignore snap,crackle,pop?

Took her out to a volley ball sand area for her first cruise.I was rather irritated by all the noise, sure did sound like my friends Exploder with them 17 frequencies. But I did find out , every time I got a solid repeatable beep( not a high tone beep) , it was ALWAYS a coin. So, my question is, should I ignore the constant high tones that don't seem to be repeatable and just dig the solid repeatable beeps? I was using the intial setup in the book.
I am sticking to sand until I get the hang of pinpointing and which sounds to ignore. I did go back to my Tesoro LST next time out. Sometimes its nice NOT to be lookin at a meter all the time and have the audio modulation tell me how deep things are.
Will have to use the F75 in mornings before it gets hot out and my frustration level goes up. This is a pretty sophisticated machine alright, will take time to learn it.

Hi Tom.

Raise your discrim to 20.
Use 2 tones.
Keep your Motion Sens. at 60 for now, and see if that quietens things down. You will soon discover its best to go for 'pleasant audio' settings rather than hyping things up. That can be done later when you feel you have the hang of the beast.

You have got the right idea of what to dig, the repeatable signals......Matt

I would have turned sensitivity way down to like 30-40 even, & for just coinshooting like that stay off the hotter JE mode. Sensitivity that low would have given you the quiet ride of any "normal" coin detector, and the soild repeatable signals on coins without all the added chatter. That sensitivity still gets plenty deep for that type coinshooting.....

modulated audio in disc mode (deeper=fainter) Like Bill and Matt said, turning down the sensitivity is a good choice....especially at first. I'm not going to say how deep I've found stuff with it set at 30 'cause folks may question my mental stability. :) The F-75 in my ground is deeper/hotter at the low settings than most other machines are cranked up all the way.

Another thing to try is the "frequency shifting".. refer to page 23 in the manual to take a look.

Every trip out with this thing I learn something new, and am more amazed with its flexibility and power.

Me too. I was playing in All Metal in my test garden last night and I could hit the 12" deep silver quarter with the coil 4" or more off the ground with no false signals while sweeping! Sensitivity at 80 and manually ground balanced to a tad positive. I could not find the same quarter in jewelry mode - it either didn't register at low sensitivity or had so many falses at the higher levels it was impossible to ferret out the good signal. If I didn't know the quarter was there I would definately not have dug for with similar reactions in the field.

I still find the jewelry mode a bit "hot" for most areas I hunt. A few parks I hunt I can get it to settle down. This is not the case in my driveway on a hilltop where some combination of powerlines, cordless phones, or sunspots and microwaves really gives it the jitters. Works fine in the riverbottom park I usually hunt. That jump from 20 to 21 on Discrimination is like the turbo boost kicking in.

With my F75, anything that causes the added amplification stage to be activated - disc below 5 or above 20, Je mode (that I know of) - changes the whole feel of the machine. It goes from quiet, stable, and effective to chirpy, tinny, and annoying.

Furthermore, it seems that once it goes into this mode, the only way to get it sane again is to do a reset.

As long as I don't activate the pre-amp, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this detector. But once it starts chirping and popping, it is a very short time before I have to reset it to make it stop.
