F75 Detech Ultimate 13" vs NEL Tornado 13" ??

I keep hearing the Detech Ultimate 13" is a super coil, far better then the stock F75 11" DD coil.

The F75 Detech Ultimate 13" and NEL Tornado 13" are almost identical in design (at least shape and size), has anyone been able to test both coils head to head?

I have the NEL Tornado, which I've also heard to be a super coil on the F75, but as the Ultimate keeps popping up, I'm curious which one's beter

I've never tried it on the F75, but I use the ultimate coil on my gold bug Pro. I'm thinking of switching to the NEL instead myself.

Cal, memory serves me, DanielTn favored the Tornado coil on the 75...said it was a bit deeper. Try a search verses my memory, lol

I have run the NEL Tornado on a Teknetics Omega 8000 and on all my AT Pros also. Since buying my E trac I also purchased the NEL Tornado for it and have the Deteck Ultimate 13' for it so hopefully I can do some comparisions if this snow ever goes away LOL! I did hit some Deeeeep silver with the Tornado and am planning on buying another for my new Fisher F75 LTD2

Not only have I had both, but since then, I have had access to a couple other Ultimate coils for the F75. The biggest thing to take away from it all, is that the NEL is shielded a lot better....which means it is a touch heavier but well worth it due to your F75s will run smooooothhhh and quiet with one of them on it. The Tornado was my favorite coil for the F75.

Now here is why nobody can say for certain which is "deeper".

My friend and I both had F75 ltd units. He had the Ultimate. I had the Tornado.

What we done was tried each coil on his machine....then swapped them over to mine.

We ran them through the same tests.

His machine peaked out with the Ultimate. My machine peaked with the Tornado. Don't know why either...other than maybe each coil was calibrated closer to the sweet spot for each of our machines. BOTH machines ran quieter with the NEL on there though. His machine with the Ultimate on it was "deeper" but it also had so much noise that you couldn't have possibly hunted with it with the sens cranked up as high as he had to, to get it to surpass the NEL. So you can kind of balance it out from there.

I will say I am currently using an MXT Pro and have the Ultimate 13 on it...and it is a great coil. But if NEL made one for it, I would certainly have one of those. I think more people have the Ultimate because they can get them from Kellyco, and most still think that the NEL coils have to be shipped from Bulgaria and shy away from them because of that. That is not the case...there are several dealers in the US now, that can have the coil sent UPS to your door in just a couple/few days.

I use the ultimate coil. My thoughts are its lighter by 6oz over nel coil, with the new f75 machines they run so quiet i dont think it matters which coil is sheilded more..also my new ultimate coil does have a thicker cable than my older ones.. It runs quiet full throttle...

Thanks for everones feedback.

Daniel I like the fact that the NEL coils are better shielded. When I spoke with the US distributor for NEL coils, he said the cable is shielded better, and they use a special epoxy which helps shield EMI.

Basstrackerman interesting that it looks like they've upgraded the cables on the newer Ultimate coils, which one would assume is for better EMI shielding.

It would be great to test these coils with the new LTD2 DST machines. Even though there's DST in play, there's still potentially "silent EMI" issues which will effect performance, just we may not hear it. So if that's the case, in theory the better sheilded coil may be the better performer, but then again the Ultimate may be a better coil design (although side by side they look nearly identical).

Is there a big difference in the tornado and the stock 11x7 coil on the 75? No more than Ive used it I've been real impressed with the sharpshooter. Doesn't have quite the depth but is much better in separating targets. I just got the 3 x 6 today and threw some stuff in the floor it seemed to do pretty good. I can see some uses just because of how small it is. But just wanted your opinion on the bigger coils. Thanks

The last test we done was with my LTD 2 with 12-14 date and DST. My take on it was that the NEL was still deeper on my machine vs the Ultimate. But the biggest difference was on the non upgraded machine that my friend has. He could run his gain well past 90 without noise with the NEL and to get his quiet with the Ultimate, it had to be below 75. Now I can't say for sure if they haven't changed the shielding on the wires or if they have. My buddies newest Ultimate coil was purchased from big K in January of this yr so it might be old stock or new stock. The one he has is like the others we have seen...no better or worse.

Is it deeper than the stock coil? My Heavens yes. Approx 3 inches gained over the stock coil on US coin size objects. Either one is worth having if you are after depth in open fields/woods etc. But neither is worth a dime in heavy trash sites.

Awesome
So the tornado is great in depth and similar on separation ability of the stock coil? I think I'm gonna get one!!!!!

I've been thinking about getting a Detech Ultimate 13 for my G2. I can run my G2 with full sensitivity using the stock 11 inch DD coil without any emi chatter.
