F75 DE vs. JE audio

Big Boys Hobbies

Well-known member
When I run JE mode vs the DE mode (discrimination at 10) I have to almost cut in half my sensitivity or the audio turns to complete crap. Very "squelchy" I guess one might say. Is this the norm? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

I do very well with DE mode and the detector but would love to "master" the JE mode. Yeah right...... haha

Is all metal the same? squelchy??

Thanks in advance!

Hey Stoops,

If I understand right, the JE mode is more "crackly" than your DE? That's the way mine is, popping for what may seem like nothing.

I've only got about 35 hours under my belt with the 75 (and 30 years behind that), but I've found the JE also "pops off" stronger than the DE mode.

So if this makes sense, it's kinda like ..,,..;.;.,,.;..BAM...,,;;,.;;,..BAM ...in JE

as opposed to .. .. bam ... ... .bam.... over the same target in DE.

I prefer the JE as it seems hyper sensitive on good targets. Some may not want to put up with the extra crackle. DE doesn't seem to be a slouch, don't get me wrong.

I was more meaning the difference in audio of good targets. The good "solid hit" sound I get in DE turns to a twangy or squelchy sound in JE. Even when I turn down the sensitivity to almost half of what I run rather smoothly in DE. Usually 75 to 85 in DE mode and 35-40 in JE. I do get alot more pops and cracks in JE mode but I knew it would do that due to the more powerful setting.

The change in audio quality seems weird to me. Is this normal????

May be something in you soil or in the air ( elec.). I use the JE mode and can fun it up to 85 sometimes. Try disc. on 20 , notch on 35, 3H in the JE mode it is good on coins, but looking for gold rings disc. on 4 , notch on 1.

Each mode samples the target differently so the audio will change as a result.
