F75 and nickels (long)

Do to the severe dry conditions in my area and digging now very tough, I decided to do my hunting last week under and around the trees that are on a particular site that I and many others have hunted hard over the years, and really concentrate on digging nickel readings. The site as a whole is extreemly trashy and under and around the trees, particularly so. Both, in terms of being gathering spots over the years and from other hunters deeming under the trees apparently being a good spot to dump the trash they dug.

I set my f75 up in disc. mode, sen. 75, disc. 6, 3h tones and de process. I concentrated on the high tones and dug readings of 28-31. Readings under and over these usually resulted in slaw pieces and tabs.

Over all, I retrieved 44 nickels, 5 being Buffalo, and 1 10k white gold mens wedding band. As with another 10k ring I found with the f75, this one also gave a high tone and locked on 30. It was about 3" deep.

Yes, I dug a few tab pieces. Tails, particularly folded ones and broken tab rings, frequently fell into the 28-31 range. Tab rings, though, do seem to have a very slight scratchy sound.

In ending, the f75 will flat find nickels and id them very accurately.

Well done Jim !

As we say here in England (UK) "That cooking on gas".

Meaning.....Hot stuff man.

It just proves what patience and willingness to tackle trashy areas
can produce.

I think it's great fun and can be very rewarding, to simply stand in
one spot and absolutely rake over every target.
Trash scares off the average detectorist, but that's where the brave
can score with their tenacity and resolve.

Here's wishing you many more gold rings........MattR.UK.

Thanks guys. Like you Matt, I do enjoy "thrashing the trash" and the f75 has made it even much more pleasureable and rewarding. In conjunction to the nickels and ring, I failed to mention also digging 4 silver coins and several wheaties. Besides 3 dimes, one of the coins was a 1933 Republica Portuguesa 2 $ 5 (2 1/2) Escudos, which is 65% silver. It is fun finding different kinds of coins. HH everyone. jim tn
