I took the F70 out today for the first time since April. I didnt have any plans, this being an impromptu junket, so I hit a wooded spot not far from work. This used to be along the strip of road, in what was once a small township. Within 200 yards of todays spot, I have found wheats, silver, IH's and other odds and ends.
The nice thing is, this is completely off the path. It is planted in pines and anything old is long forgotten and very deep. There is no electrical interference and the ground is clean, balancing at 58 on the F70. I can run the SENS at 80 or more with the pre-amp (THRESH) gain at 4+ and get only the occasional ghost whimper from the detector. As you can imagine, when you get a signal, it is strong and free of trash clutter. On top of all that, it is quiet and not a soul around, but me.
The bad thing is it is hit or miss along this piece of road. If you get on a spot where there was a house or other activity, you can find some goodies. If you get into a spot where nothing happened, then that's what you find - nothing. Today's spot was one of those and the finds were meager to say the least...

I expect that the jars were uncovered during some recent earth moving for a small road in the vicinity. SO maybe something else has been uncovered and is waiting. It was nice, regardless of the finds.
And in case anyone wondered what Ive been doing for the last 6 months here's a hint...
