F70 software update question

How can you tell if you need the software update on the F70? I have a early release but if I set my disc below 15 and turn the unit off it does remeber that disc setting. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the test:

1. Turn the detector on.
2. Throw a nail on the ground that reads usually in the iron range.
3. Set disc to 0 and try to detect the nail.
4. If the F70 does NOT pick up the nail send the detector in, because the internal disc is stuck at 15, even the visual number showes 0.
5. If it does pick up the nail you have the newer software...no action needed.

To confirm the above you can do a detector reset by pressing the menu and ground grab buttom while you turn the detector on. Now set the disc down to 0 and the detector should detect the nail.
Anyway after you turn it of and on again the disc may be stuck internal at 15 again, even the number shows 0.

I wonder if First Texas would go ahead and send me a replacement for my F-70 that has the software glitch and send mine back as soon as I receive the replacement? I hate to be without it.
