Depends on your ground noise of course, but mine gets chatty at about thresh 3 in average ground around here.
So start rom the default settings.
First off set disc to 21,
Sense to max - up around 90+ (back if off if it's chatting)
Thresh to 0 (back it off if it's chatting)
Tones to 3h
This is great for all around hunting but the pulltabs are still gonna drive you crazy since they lock into a good target range. Coins also lock into a good target range, very little bounce in the numbers when you're over a good target.
3h will let you know if some lower category target has a good chance of being a good target because it will give a high tone beep on some of these. You will quickly find out that all those steel bottlecaps like to ring up in the good target category, but their id numbers bounce much more than good coins do.
When you get to older sites and are relic hunting, you may want to lower that disc to 5 or 6 and listen for the targets that bounce iron-to-good and pinpoint at the spot of the signal.
The best target id will come from the machine when you know you've got the target centered under the coil and swing it very little and slowly, so learn to pinpoint first. Once you get PP mastered, you'll be able to center that target and get the best info the machine can give you, and this machine rocks for good info.
