F70 question on discrimination..

Dan-Pa.

New member
First and foremost thanks for the E-mail tips and was wondering if high or low discrimination has any distinct effect on a F70 relative depth and stability as it seems many are doing well running it on low discrimination and using tone ID of their choice.

Well, discrimination is going to reduce depth on any machine. I have an F70 and my wife likes to run the discrimination up past foil and I can tell you it limits depth to about 6" or so (in moderate ground). I'm going to start detecting with the F70 more in the coming months, but gotta tell ya I was impressed with its stability and target ID capability. The real value of the F70 (IMHO) is how light it is and if you run in all metal and watch your target ID as well as listen to your audio you will get your best depth and can avoid a good percentage of the trash.

Take advantage of the visual ID and audio ID to run the machine with very little discrimination. If you disc out iron, it seems to create a more pronounced masking affect on good targets masked by iron. Or should I say, good targets masked by iron are more pronounced when the disc is set very low. I can hear more targets, deeper, with little or no disc, than I can when disc is turned up to knock out iron.
