F70 Notch control.

Can I NOTCH OUT individual targets such as IRON and ZINC only and keep Foil, Tab, Dime, Quarter and 50c notched in? I must have read the manual on Notching 100 times and can't figure this out. When I am in the NOTCH setting, there is always a reading of 1 (one) on the meter and I cannot lower it to 0 (zero). Is this right? ALSO, when I reset my F70 by pressing both the Groundgrab and Menu buttons at the same time and turning on the detector, according to the manual, I should have these settings: Disc = 15,
Speed = De, Sens= 60, THRESh= 0 and Tones=3. My Threshold ALWAYS reads in at -3 (minus 3). Please enlighten me.

Hi Dave,

You CAN notch out groups of targets. Not an individual number.

A way to use the notch is to set the disc say a value of 15.

If you want to notch out foil go to the notch menu and press the right arrow repeatedly till the icon is over FOIL, then press the MENU button, Foil is NOW notched out. Continue pressing the right arrow and go past nickel and go on up to the tab section and then press MENU again and that segment is now notched out. To undo a notch simply press MENU again.

A notch value of 1 = NO NOTCH.

-3 is the default setting of the threshold and will always be there after a reset.

in other words....................if your accepting everything in disc...then when you notch a catagory....it rejects that catagory. If you run your disc all the way up...............then the catagorys that are notched are now accepted. Sooooooooooo, just turn your disc to a 0.......then notch the iron and zinc catagory and it will reject those targets. Be aware that if you reject zincs....you will also lose some good targets. (probably some indians and some jewelery items). Streak!
