F70 jewelry setting?

I tried a new setting today on the F70. Speed on SL, sensitivity on 1, discrimination on 15, and threshold on -9. That is with the small ellipitical loop. I also notched out the zinc pennies. You should be able to cherry pick the parks and schools in gold and silver jewelry that has been dropped recently. You might lose some silver with the notch. F70 only goes 2-3 inches now, but seems to still be sensitive on gold rings. Anyone tried that setting for jewelry? I have hunted for 38 years now, I found a lot of old coins, but never found any coin worth more than a gold ring, especially at the gold prices of today.

You got that right! There is good reason to be a jewelry prospector.

A SENS of 1?! Now that is interesting. I hadn't considered that and would opt for to 20 or 30, myself, if I were after a depth reduction.

I am good with your DISC where it is, and the THRESH, too. But I'm curious to know why you selected the SL speed. Care to enlighten me on that?

I would also suggest you leave in the zinc cents. I dig them and I know they aren't worth much, but more than a few silver items will come in there.

Silver is going to climb this year. It will likely outstrip gold in proportion. The traditional ratio of silver to gold is 10:1, but that has been artificially shifted in recent times. Unlike gold, however, which is always being recycled, silver is "used up" in applications as it is part of many industrial processes, photography and so on. It is not as plentiful, apparently, or not as eagerly sought as gold, and is more of a by product of other mining efforts. According to the precious metals specialists, several of the Mints have, in fact, cut back bullion coin output recently due to supply shortages.
So, you may want to include more silver in both your search and investing efforts.

Set up your F70 in the two programs with the exact same settings, but set the two programs with the two different speed settings. You will then see why I like the SL speed better.

Ill give it a shot, then.
