F70 Instruction Manual

I apologize in advance for my stupidity, but I am having problems understanding the difference between the "Discrimination" mode versus the "Autotune" "At" mode and then the "De" and "SL" speed settings. I would like to know when/how you use one with the other for the best results. I've been detecting the better part of 30 years with some of the best detectors on the market but this 70+ senior citizen is having problems understanding that part of the manual. Thanks for any information you may contribute. Dave

Fisher calls their "All Metal" mode "Autotune", which is confusing for a lot of people. What you may want to do is set your Program 1 up as your normal Disc mode and your Program 2 as your normal All Metal mode. That way you can switch between them to check targets.

There are two retune speeds on the F70, "Default" (abbriviated as "de") and "Slow" (abbriviated as "sl"). A slow retune speed is good for really deep targets, it allows the machine a "longer look" at the faint, deep, weak signals of deep targets. When you are used to a faster retune speed, it takes a bit to get used to the slower speed but it will give you an advantage on deeper coins.
