F70 has to be re-calibrated for the F75 DD coil?

Read it on another forum...the writer said that while his F70 was in for repair he expressed his interest in putting the F75 coil on it. The writer states that Fisher claimed the detector had to be re-calibrated for that coil.

Mine seems to work fine with it on...but if I can get even better performance....hmmmmmmmmmm

But if you do that the 11'' DD will be off. best leave it alone, except the good concentric readings it gives now and switch as needed..All coils are optimized to each output of detector..but many coils close in specs will work just fine. many of the after market coils are not exactly like the factory optimized coils.

I suspect Mr Bill, or BarnacleBill can give a much more detailed answer. Also correct my errors on my statement.

This is an interesting topic. I have my F70 at Fisher for a checkup (I see it was delivered this am), I'll ask them about their thoughts on the DD calibration when they call with the results of the checkup, as I'd like to pick up the F75 coil.

I've heard the DD sounds a lot different on the F70 then the concentric coil ?

Brian

should have read the 10" concentric coil will be off...........the main coil for your machine..(F70)
