F70 4 Tone Audio ?

Just got my F70 and am browsing the manual and playing around with some air tests in the house.

Looking at all the tone options available I spy the 4 tone option, which is described as the same as the 3 tone option, except for a fourth medium-high tone for targets between 53 - 65. Looking at the TID chart that's the aluminum pull tab to aluminum screw cap range (not even close to nickels). Is this like a jewelery mode trying to highlight the possibility of gold rings ? Aside from that, it seems like an odd TID range to emphasize

My experience is the 4th tone is for coins in the Zinc. IH range. When I use the multi-tones, that's the one I use if I am in a really old area with IH's possible.

On my F 75, quite a few IH's give that tone and readings in the mid 50's-mid 60's. On older sites that have the potiential for IH's, the 4 tone option is good, but on such sites, I dig those readings anyway. HH jim tn

Imagine a large College type 10kt gold ring would come in this zone as far as jewelry goes...Indeed indian head pennies, two cent pieces, oddball tokens, half dime and perhaps a gold coin would probably under most conditions come in around this zone and all depends on the individual and above all what you are looking for and also dial in ground conditions. Nice to know Fisher gives one all the options...to fit in for an individual and his hunting needs...

Thanks for the tips gents. I've been air testing with an IH penny, SLQ, V nickel and mercury dime to see how it reacts to the tones (and wishfully hoping it will find more of these in the wild

It's definitely nice to have all the tone options, it's just sorting out what will work best. Maybe less tones to begin with will be easier to learn the machine (like 3 or 3H), but those high tones certainly get your attention when silver coin hunting

Tesoro does this, too, opening up the midrange. This is most notable on the Golden, a detector I've used for years.
See, iron is easy, and so is silver (and up). But that vast nidrange holds a lot of untapped potential, normally steered away from for fear of it being the realm of trash. Having that 4th tone can't hurt, trust me.
