F5 problem.

This detector is great.
i keep going outside with it just to tinker with it.
It is 90 here.
any reason why My killerbee headphones don't work in it.
They worked on the 705.
If I pull the jack out a little I can hear it in the left ear .
If i push it in all the way the phones go dead.
It's not a big deal because it is probably in the jack in the unit itself.
Just wondering if there is something that would control that.
David

headphones come in stereo and mono-I use rattlers and rat phones-both of which have two black rings on plug-check yours.rat phones come with a reversable plug to solve this problem.am no expert but from what I can see on mine and read in paper that came with r-phones its the only thing I can come up with

David,
here is a link to a findmall thread discussing a problem like yours. There might be something there that would help.

Try your headphones on the Xterra and make sure they work and it's not a short in the cord.
Then if you can, try another set of headphones on the F5 just to make sure it's working ok.
Many headphones have a compatibility switch. I know my Uniprobe's and my old Timberwolf's had to be switched differently to work on different detectors. Do Killer B's have that compatibility switch?

Good luck,

Mike

David they should work, as my F5 came with a set of Killerbee's and they work great, you just have to toggle the mono/stereo switch to the proper setting for the F5. If neither setting works, try them on another machine and if the audio still fails to work, then you may need to send them in for repair, but the fact that your able to hear audio with the plug half way inserted tells me the stereo/mono switch is in the wrong position.

Brian

thanks Cal I tried it like you said and you were right.
I do get sound now in both ears but it is distorted so I push the jack in and out to try and clear it up.
the sound through the F5 speaker is clear as a bell.
The headphones were very clear on the 705.
thanks
