It doesn't do anything on the production units, I believe it had a function on the prototypes and they changed things on the production units.
IMHO it would've been perfect as the ground grab button (phase). I'm not really sure why their still using this pot, as it's obviously more expensive then the non-push switch pots. Perhaps it gets into some secret/test menu if you know the correct sequence of buttons

I just use the phase button -when two # match your good to go
