F5 goes golden.

Days of contrasts. Yesterday for a few hours detecting got bugga all. Today headed west from home and scored my first gold ring, 2 florins, 3d, pennies and a halfpenny. Couple of tarp rings and a ring of a bike valve and about $9 6 of which I spent. I think the ring is hand made as it appears to have a seam around the middle. Can't make out the marks other than the M. Electronic kitchen scales (measures in 1g increments) bring it in at 6gs.Loving this F5.

Nice. Love that F5. Keep em coming.

What settings were you using when you found that gold ring ? How deep was it ? I've got an f 5 myself and I've never found a gold ring yet but I'm finding silver coins OK .

Hello Still looking 52. Ring was found in a kids playground (totlot) and about 1/2" under the sawdust. Came in at 52 -56 if I remember rightly. Gain 60, Threshold -1, Discrim 26. Coil was the 11"DD

Thanks for the info. One thing you may want to check about your f5 is some machines were set up wrong from the factory and they won't pick up a silver dollar laying right on top of the ground. My two brothers and myself found this really good spot last fall and pulled 4 silver 1/2 dollars out in an area about the size of a football field and they came in around 93 , so we thought we should check what a silver dollar would come in at and that's when we discovered my f5 wouldn't even pick it up at all.

Being in Australia the only actual silver content coins we find are the old ones which include a couple of the coins found on this hunt. Our modern silver coins are cupro nickel and I have found them as well . Thanks for the tip though.

Nice! I got my first gold with the F5. It's a great machine. Stable, solid TID, great tone options, and looks like a racecar dashboard!

Get out there and get some more yellow:clapping:

The F5 and gold is like cookies and cream, cheese and crackers, lung cancer and cigarettes.
They just go together.

Congrats!
