hit a fresh water beach this morning.detected both in and out of water machine worked quite well in water dug nickles at close to 8". dry sand found mainly usual litter only time it ran kinda cranky was going from water to wet sand-but it quieted down.being the first time to the water with F5 I was playing with the gain/thresh hold so don't have any exact #'s but I ran them both high and low .found the following coins all in the water between 6"-8",the bullet thing I thought was a sinker but no hole in small end -plus its completely hollow and made of brass.sorry for poor quality pics.

Hey WW,

The F5 does well at fresh water beaches. I found my first gold ring with it last summer in the wet sand, it was easily about 7" or so deep, and the F5 hit it hard. Came in as a pull tab/nickel signal, but it sounded different.

Keep going, has to be some jewelery there somewhere

your right on about tones there is s difference even if it says one thing -the tones don't lie.them nickles had a tone all their own.am still learning this machine-but I'd say its a keeper I've dug lots of deep targets with it.used a BH202 for yrs and decided it was time for a change.research lots of different ones before getting this one-very powerful, good price(got it new $399.plus shipping-total $415.50)and most of all its lite-you can use it even with my bad shoulders for quite some time without too much difficulty.
