F5 depth

Took my new F5 out to the city park today. This is about my fifth outing with it and up to now I've not really challenged it. Today I pulled a wheatie out from ten inches. It was a weak signal bouncing from zinc to dime. Now I can relax about it's ability to pull deep, older coins. Soil is sandy loam mixed with clay. Gain set at 80 and threshold at +5. Gives me a little noise but not when I'm sweeping. I think I made a good buy.

you've only just began to see what this machine is capable of-they really out did themselves on the making of the F5-the more ya learn the more surprised you'll be-.for dry hunts its my go to machine. if you have'nt already get the 5'DD

What is the 5'DD?

that correct I meant 5"DD coil-when ya old sometimes it the little things ta forget -like hitting the shift key- sorry I hate to try and swing it the other way

Glad to see someone else posting about getting good depth from their F5. The last post I made about it the guy said that my post was misleading.
I know in my area I've found dimes and pennies at 8 inches easy. I can say the F5 might not be for everyone. But if they take their time and learn the detector it will do well for them.

Sorry, I was not referring to your typo. I just purchased an F5. I was wondering what the coil does in comparison with the one that comes with the machine.

Coils are like one of the biggest things you can do to help your hunting. Depending what the area has you need to have a least one small coil

in trashy areas a smaller coil is a must have. Terry-8" is a very easily hit depth -have dug many a coin from that deep with F5-if more people would test drive this model there would be more owners.can't beat it for dependability and consistency ,plus with the weight you can swing it longer-I have bad shoulders all the weight is no problem.this is one great machine

bobpat I run my F5 as hot as I can. G@80, T@+5, and D@15 is what I run most of the time. I have been running in all metal mode when woods hunting, setup hot. The more I use this detector the more I like it. As far as depth I found a dime @ "8 with good tone and ID, I know it will go deeper I just haven't hit anything deeper yet.
