Got another 3 hours out last Sunday afternoon. No keeper jewelry this time either, though I've pulled three pieces of gold out of this site in the past. Timing I guess.
But I did find two more half dollars to add to the collection. No silver, just '74 Kennedy's but I like finding them. Like the way they hit on the F5. You know its good stuff. Some times I think a local club hides them for me
We got a little moisture last weekend so the depth was good.
I see posts about jumpy target ids. The coil design will give jumpy id's for the deeper objects unless you get it pinpointed to the sweet spot of the coil. Use a golf ball to find the sweet spot on the coil by placing it in on the inner loop. Roll it a bit and then let it come to rest. That is the sweet spot on the coil. Mark it, memorize it, something. That golf ball size area is the coil's most sensitive spot. When you get jumpy targets, pinpoint, detune and pinpoint and detune again if needed to get the target centered in that spot. Then sweep it. Many times the id will stabilize enough for better decisions. Watch the confidence bar. Works well on iron falses as well.
I read a post about foil giving high tones. Whenever I get high tones on foil I know I'm overdriving the sensitivity for the ground conditions. I'll turn it down until foil reads as foil. I don't experience this much with the F5 but it's a fairly common phenomenon with some units. I know of one unit (tracker IV) that if I overdrive the sens setting enough I can move nickels up into the zinc range. Comes in handy sometimes
Ground is funny stuff here. One place will let you use the disc mode and pull 8" deep targets. Other places the disc mode will barely penetrate 3". All part of the fun I guess.
