F4 problem Helppppppp

New member
I received a F4 today and took it out for a try. When I pinpoint it stays in the pinpoint mode. I pressed pinpoint again and it still stays in pinpoint. The only way I can get it out of pinpoint mode is to shut the machine off and turn it back on. Is something wrong with the machine or is it the operator? Thanks Jim

Wish I new the answer for you Jim, I have a F4 ordered but haven't received it yet. (A) I would think that either you have to push the pinpoint button once for it to go into pinpoint mode and once for it to go out of pinpoint mode or (B) You would have to keep the pinpoint button held in to get into pinpoint mode and soon as you let off the button it would go out of pinpoint mode. I am thinking that there might be something wrong with your machine. I would contact your dealer or give Fisher a email or a call. Good luck with it! Steve.

What did you think of the F4 besides the pinpoint problem. Did you find some "goodies" & how accurate was the target id and the depth of the finds. Looking for all the opinions I can find on the F4 becasue I have one on the way. Thanks! Steve (upstate New York).

if it is like the 3300, you have to press the disc button to exit the pinpont mode. Someone with the F4 should be able to verify this.

what ever mode you wish to return to. In most cases one is hunting in Disc. mode when the pin point button is pushed. Just push the disc. button to return to disc. hunting.

The pin point was set up this way so if you choose to, you can hunt in a no motion mode when the pin point is locked in.

We have plenty of F4's in stock, anyone looking for one ?? Drop me a note.

I tried that and it did just what it supposed to do. I really figured it was probably some thing I was doing wrong. Thanks for the advice. Isn,t this forum great for info? Jim

Glad you got it figured out Jim, now come back and post your thoughts on the F4. Steve...

I only used it about 20 minutes so not much of a test. I did find 4 dimes and a penny, but was frustrating to have to turn machine off after pinpointing. I loved the weight. Jim

Mr Bill is exactly right just hit disc and it will return to your disc settings.Unlike the 3300 you don't lose your settings. This feature and the 5 year warrenty is worth the price difference for me. While in pinpoint mode each time you push pinpoint it reduces the area of detection .You can also lift the coil gradually to narrow the detection area in disc or pinpoint.Just takes a little practice. Had my f4 about 4 weeks and I love it.

Hi longbone, you said "While in pinpoint mode each time you push pinpoint it reduces the area of detection" . So does this mean if you push the pinpoint button only once it won't pinpoint the target? Also you said you love the F4 - What kind of depth does it get & how accurate is the ID. Do you use the notch on it? One more question that I can't find any info on is how good do the batteries last in the F4. Can't wait to get my new F4 it should be here tomorrow. Thanks! Steve.
I forgot to ask - what are your opinions using the DD coil and the 8 inch round coil?

Hello Skiwhiz; I'll try to answer your guestions. When you select pinpoint mode it will sound off when your over the target, but the detection area is large on shallow or large targets. If you push the button agin it will narrow the area of detection making it easier to center the target in the center of the coil, you can keep narrowing it if you wish.It will become apparent when you try it. The depth appears to be good the deepest coin was a clad dime about 7 inches, the id is good but on deeper coins it tends to bounce around a little.Agin takes a little use to understand what it;s telling you.I used the DD for about an hour changed to the 10" I like the 10 better. The 8" coil is the one I prefer.I also like The 4" coil for trashy areas and close to fences and playgrounds. The batteries seem to last longer than the 3300 but I use rechargeable so can't really say. Some one can probably explain the pinpoint better.Hope this helps.

Thanks longbone,I really appreciate your response. Steve (upstate New York)...
