F4 Best Finds of a novice

Boston Metal

New member
Hear a some of my better finds from my first summer metal detecting with an F4. I also found another 40 or so wheaties of various ages and about $80 worth of clad. I am a little disappointed that I didn't find more old coins, but I'm not discouraged. I'd say I have spent about 120 hours MD'ing so far. The liberty dime was about 2 inches below a good sized piece of brass that was itself at around 4 inches. The gold ring was found on the beach New Years day (60 degrees that day). It was about 5 inches down in wet sand.

The F4 is a great unit, it's also great on silver. I had one, but soon moved on to the F5 and the Gold Bug Pro.

And they are great finds btw for a beginner, better than most I'd say !

Nothing novice abought those finds Boston.I found my first silver coin with my F4,and a ton of clad!! I dont use it much anymore but I cant bring myself to loose it..hh rick in mi.

I love my f4.
I found a ring just like the one youve got just a week or so ago. Its an Irish marriage ring for good luck.. I found mine way down in the wet sand at low tide on a beach here in New Zealand. Check out the photos of my four week holiday in my blog if you like... found $670 odd dollars in those four weeks with the f4

BH Did you get more depth from the f5, or was it just that you could make more adjustments allowing you to hunt at peak performance more often? I am thinking about moving up the line with a used unit. I hunt mostly old trashy parks and the beach down to the water line. I can't afford more than 400 or so. I can get a used F5 or F70 for that. Also a ton of older machines like a cz5. I would be moving up primarily for additional depth, since the silver seems to be picked clean from the first few inches of the parks I hunt. I am also thinking about a used whites PI for the beach. So many choices! I'd love to hear any thoughts.
