F4 Batteries & Battery Life

Hi folks, Im a newbie to this forum So nice to meet you all, in this my first post just wondering what sort of battery life your getting with the Fisher F4,? also having tried unsuccessfully using Rechargeable Batteries has anyone had any good results with recharge ables n the F4..

Just a word about the F4, I love it its a true coin cherry picker I managed to pull 50 x

Are you using headphones?

With headphones I guess I get about 25 to 30 hours. I change them when it starts to go to 1 bar when pinpointing.

If you don't use headphones battery life is shortened.

I.m still on my first set of batteries...something between 15 - 20 hrs so far, just over $75 AUD. recovered. I use headphones and hope to get more out of the first set.

Yeah using headphones, Im getting about 4/5 4 hour sessions a set of Duracell, But the thing that makes me think something is wrong or not quite right is Ive tested the batteries that the detector says are dead with a multi meter & theres still above 8volts left in the battery....

I tried 2 types of NI- MH rechargeable But they dont seem to be able to power my F4 or for silly short periods or worse erratic behaviour....

Of course it may be the fact that my previous detector, A Tesoro/Laser B1 high power used 8xAA & seemed to go forever on a set???

With a spare set of batteries in your pocket you might want to try to see if you can squeeze out more time. I found that changing batteries at one bar is way SOON! The detector (mine, at least) goes for a few more hours even at NO bars. Of coure make sure you have the extra batteries available.

Pays to be cheap sometimes. :detecting:

Ya gotta use good alkalines and HEADPHONES. There's a dramatic decrease in battery life on the F4 if you don't use headphones. The amplifier to power that big speaker is gonna sap a lot of juice. I get probably 25-30 hours of GOOD battery life with my F4. Spend the money on headphones and good alkaline batteries. You get it back in clad anyway.

Something else I just remembered. Use your pinpoint the least you can. Pinpoint seems to really draw a lot of power. It is in pinpoint I notice the battery bars changing. I have learned to X the target real good and use the pinpoint sparingly to get better battery life.
