F4/1236 X2

I realize the F4 has alot more bells & whistles (TID,etc.) but when it comes to just plain performance will the F4 do as good as the 1236 X2? I have to make up my mind real quick which one to get. I am leaning towards the F4 but I know the 1236 is tried and true. Thanks! Steve.

Steve!
I am not a dealer and have had only first hunt with 1236.

But mind the following points:
1. 1236 is the best unit for ONLY relic hunting and old coins. Any types are successible if your site does not have a lot of trash. For the US it is only a dream. More than probable you will face with need to concentrate and deal with modern coin hunting. That means you should have better discriminator.
2. 1236 is a no-frills detector. At the same tine it works perfectly. A new F4 is rather a mess of traditions of both Fisher and BH.
Take a list of paper and write about your priorities. What you need more: performance and dependability or discriminator?
