F4 11" Coil pinpointing

Boston Metal

New member
I was testing the pinpointing with the 11" coil. I pinpoint in one direction then turn it 90 degrees and pinpoint it again. It appears that dead-on is about a inch in front of where the pole enters. There's even a manufacturer's mark there, a small circle indent. Would someone confirm for me this is the spot?

Also, I haven't seen much use in trying to narrow the pinpoint by pressing pinpoint a second time. I appear to be pretty accurate without that. Do any of you use that technique?

Thank you for the help. I can feel myself getting a real feel for my f4 and your suggestions have helped. Now if I can just start to understand auto-tune all metal.........

Frank

Hey Frank,my f4 pinpoint is dead on right where yours is[small dot where the pole mounts] I will also rotate mine at times, but its usually right on the first time.I sometimes have to push pinpoint twice,I didnt know it narrows it down??? I push it twice when it gets goofy and screams non stop no matter where the coil is pointed.Kinda like resests itself All metal mode is just that all metal mode, only time I use it is to confirm there really is an object in the ground,or always at the beach. i so far have found 15 weaties and two silver dimes, one merc. and one rosie,my oldest coin being a 1909 wheatback. Good luck

Same with my F4...pinpoints at the manufacturers "dimple" just ahead of the pole.

Yep.. I use the 90 degree technique... and yes thats the spot... take five seconds to pinpoint.
