F2 vs. Garrett ACE 250

Someone posed the question in the Garrett forum and I am curious to see the comparison.

I see numeric ID and the warranty as definite pluses, but no pre programed modes on the Fisher. What are your opinions?

I'll let you know after this weekend. The Big Brown Truck just brought my F2 and will be giving it a test run. This will be the first Fisher I've ever used and have been nearly a dyed-in-the-wool Garrett user for 8 yrs. now. I bought one of the very first 250's and have logged a ton of hours on it and it has rewarded me with some great finds, as all of the Garretts I own have.
I do have some first impressions of the F2 already as I immediately unboxed and assembled it and took it to the lawn next door to my office for a quick shake. First, it is very light and well balanced. I like the locking cams on the shaft, no wobbles. I notched out Iron and Foil and threw a quarter on the grass and it would hit it at a good 8" out (maybe farther when I have 'phones on, lotsa traffic). Pinpoint is a little mushy but then again, I just hit it the one time, but I could tell where the coin was. I like the big, honkin' ID numbers, easy to read. I would like to have a selection of preset hunting modes like the 250 and the ability to store a Custom mode.
I'll just have to wat till the weekend now to give it a complete run-thru and I'll report back then. It'll really have to be something else to out-do my 250, but we'll see!! At least some of the detector manufacturers have taken notice of how well the Garrett people did, providing a full featured detector at a reasonable price, and are trying to catch up now. It can only benefit us all, the users!!

Go to www.fisherf75.com and click on the Fisher F2 link. The comparison F2 vs Ace 250 is on the page too.

I was hoping a big green user would try out the f2 on a test run. keep us posted. thanks.

I know it's hard to beat the 250 within the same price range, but I think the F2 does it. Will be looking forward to your thoughts.

I plan on giving the F2 a quickie test run over by the local ballfields on my lunch hour today, Should be fun!! I wish I would have had time last night to give it an inspection.
I do remember my first impression of the 250. "Yikes, this thing hits on everything and falses all over the place." That is, until I figured out the factory Sens. was way too high for my area.

>>>> big, honkin' ID numbers<<<<
Hahahaha. I haven't heard that expression
in years!!!

>>>>It'll really have to be something else to out-do my 250,<<<<

Well, from what I have been reading that might be found in how much deeper
the F2 seems to go and also the target recovery.

Lets us know how it works out.
