Hi j.t., I was wondering the same thing about the depth of my F2 that I just got, after installing fresh alkaline batteries in it the depth increased. I believe that it will get pretty good depth. My wife grabbed my F2 tonight and her first target turned out to be a silver cross. Yes the F2 is a keeper and will deliver the goods, and this is comming from a Tesoro fan. I believe it takes a few times out with the F2 to get used to it. It as been a fun machine so far. Steve.

How would you set it for relic hunting?
RR
Use it with nothing discriminated out. Steve.

Deeper'n you wanna dig, no problems, I don't dig no deeper'n 8 in, less i'm out for relics, have got some silver dimes, and nice silver odds, n ends, i use nother detector for relics, but it would work fine :) It's good detector at a bargain price, I think it will do bout anything purty gud :)

thanks bugar!.can ya tell me what depth the silver was found at?..just curious!

hi skiwhiz!
can i ask where do ya hunt most of the time?..i want it for trashy parks where separation is key,but have to tell ya i dont have a lot of confidence in it's ability to get decent depth,so i am hoping as i use it i will discover it's got the goods!..it's one thing to get between the trash, but ya need the depth too!..the silver GENERALLY is a little deeper, and i dont want to find out i bought a clad getter!

I hunt school grounds and playgrounds. I am no pro but have been detecting for almost 20 years & I found that most detectors get about the same depth, at least all the different ones I have had do. I haven't had enough time with the F2 yet to give an honest depth capability. It would be nice if we could get up to 12" deep with a detector but if you really think about it would digging 12" holes all day be fun, it would be more like work. Sure I like finding old coins, but a day out with my wife taking turns with the detector finding some clad and some jewelry & chasing my 4 year old son around the park is fun and that is what's important to me. Steve.

i agree!.the hobby is supposed to be fun,not work!..i bought the f2 knowing it wasn't the most powerful detector on the market, and to be truthful, you just dont need a ton of depth when hunting in trashy sites as the silver has been masked for the most part, and is hiding amongst the trash!..probably somewhat shallow too!..if ya gettin'dpwn to 5,or 6" then that's probably all you need anyway!..i just have NOT dug anything that deep yet,so i wonder abou it!..i am gonna take mine out tomorrow to a park, and let my wife walk around the park for excercize, and my daughter will hunt with me with her tesoro silver u-max.should be a good family day!
thanks fro the input!
