f2 on/off issues

Hi all I recently bought an f2. After about two weeks of use the machine would not turn off when i pressed the button, so i took the batteries out. When i put the batteries back in it wouldnt turn back on. I tried two sets of brand new batteries and eventuallyt i got it to turn back on, but not by pressing the on off switch, by putting the batteries in and out repeatedly. now (jack about two weeks later) the on/off button is working intermittently. When i called fisher to tell them about tbis problem the guy told me my batteries were bad and i could send it in but the would send it right back, and "it was my time and money." I was wondering if anyone else has had thisa problem orthe encounterd bad customer service?

Yes! mine was messing up like that and I sent it back in and they had to replace the membrane touch pad, mine at the time had almost no run time.

By a new set of batteries (good ones) try it out, if its still messed up send it back! its their problem. I'm going to say that in the two weeks you've had your I bet it has more run time than my did when it messed up.

But, I will say this, I don't think this is a common problem because as far as I know your the only other person to post about this issue.

The only problem I had with service was I had to pay full shipping price to send their broken detector back to them? I feel they should at lest give the customer a return shipping number so that I would have had to only pay their company shipping rate, or they should have paid the shipping all together. It cost my like $16.00 to ship it to them, they paid like $9.00 to ship it back.

If you are having this problem with new good quality alkalines, there's something wrong with the machine. I don't know what happened with your call to Fisher customer service, maybe someone misunderstood or maybe it was someone inexperienced who doesn't yet know the right questions to ask.

If you bought the machine new it should still be on warranty, just for what that's worth.

If the problem persists, call customer service again, get an RA to send it in, include a note with the machine explaining the problem , and also include a printout of this thread.

My on-off button has been messed up for over a year.
Also a membrane problem.
I called them, talked to Felix, he switched me over to somebody else and got an RGA # but still haven't sent it in.
Finding great stuff with it and I just don't feel like losing it even for a few weeks.
To turn it off, I just remove the right side battery as you are looking at the screen, putting it back in turns it back on.
When I need to replace both, the unit does go off completely, but I press the power button several times and it eventually powers up again
One day I will send it back for repair.

Thanks everyone for your comments. The on/off button is working most of the time now, and I feel the same way about it as REVIER. Although there is an obvious problem with the machine, it still works well enough to use it, and I dont want to give it up as I dont have a back up....I have heard great things about the Tesoro Vaquero and will probably purchase one in a month or so, that would be a good time to send in the f2.

Thanks again!

I'm going to order one, but hope i dont' get one with the same issue.:sadwalk:

Ask the dealer to give it a check over before he ships it out to you, that way, you will know that it is good out of the box.
