F2 finds BIG silver.

I let my brother borrow my FIsher F2 w/ the 4inch coil to hunt a super trashy area we hit up. Not 5 minutes after we start, he pulls this puppy out of the ground. His first silver and it's a big ol' Silver dollar.

Been noticing some nice finds by F2 users lately and the dang thing will quickly pay for itself at this rate. Tell your brother Congrats !! HH Bill

how deep?..it may be still early, but i think this detector has the RIGHT combination of features to get the job done in trash!..could turn out to be a genuine
"sleeper!"..short money's a bonus!

The F2 is outstanding hunting extremely trashy sites especially with the 4" coil and love the tones. The F2 hits hard on high coins and also seems very sensitive to small lower conductive targets. Overall depth may be an issue for some but i'm already thinking it may compete with my M6 using the 5" EXcelerator on the shallow targets in trash on depths less than 5".The 4 tone id along with the very quick recovery speed on the little Fisher is distinctive enough to easliy differentiate conductivity range on targets very close together and the numerical ID helped pull some nickels out of heavy pulltab infested areas rather easily.

Many are curious about the overall depth capabilities of the F2 and i haven't found a coin deeper than 5" but very happy with that performance for such a lowend detector and feel it may go somewhat deeper but no idea how much. I hate the stand on the F2 or perhaps the bulbous control box is too top heavy but that needs to be addressed as the detector is easily tipped.Just the opinion of an avid trashy site hunter and give the F2:thumbup:at very trashy sites. HH Bill

It wasn't deep at all, but then again, that's not why I bought it. I bought it specifically for detecting in scrapes/sidewalk demos/dirt dumps etc. You don't need to go deep in places like that, what you do need is super fast response and insane separation at reasonable depths, something I think the f2 with 4" coil is now the king of.

I bet your brother is still on cloud nine with this nice silver dollar as they are hard to come by and will probably remember the details of this find as where it was found for the rest of his life. I remember my first one back in 1976 and where it was found and every time i drive by that area I think about how I found it to this day.

Good luck and hope you or your brother find many more.

Rick

as i stated in a previous post,it appears the f2 HAS the RIGHT combination of features and it seems that those using it are confirming that fact for the rest of us!
"nano second" separation, along with accurate tonal id constitutes a "coin killer" in trash!

i tend to agree with that!..i believe strongly that if it can get down even to a maximum of 6" at a trash strewn site, then the "killer separation with the tonal i.d
should make for a knock out punch!..i agree also that,at least in MY experience, that you do NOT really need a ton of depth to get the job done!..remember!..we are talking about for the most part, coins that have been walked over for years because of the "masking" effect!

you can bet the farm this baby WAS walked over numerous times over the years, and was probably "undetectable" bec ause of the masking of trash!

hi bill!
when you found the coins at 5",did you get astrong tone,or was the tone a weaker one?..chances are, in good soil it will get down past 6"..

Hi j.t.

The 5" deep penny responded strongly enough with hightone and vdi to feel the F2 could go a bit deeper in that particular area with the 8" coil. That was weeks ago when i was measuring finds just to see for myself and was able to crank up the sens to 75% sometimes 100% .Can't predict how deep the F2 may go and 6+" seems probable under the right conditions but feel the strong point of the F2 is great target separation at Extremely trashy sites mainly using the clear tones and the VDI can help sorting nickles and other mid to lower conductive targets out of the mess. Wouldn't try to promote the F2 as a deep seeker from my perspective.Just some thoughts. HH Bill

hi bill!
thanks for the information!..i live in new england, and although i have found coins down to 8" here or so,i most of the stuff comes out at the 4-6" level, and i am talking colonial coins in the 1700's!,so i feel the f2 has plenty of depth if it is getting down to the 6" level, and beyond!..as you mentioned ,and i concur the detector's strengths are extremely fast separation, along with 4 tone i.d...equipped the way it is,i believe it is all you really need in the junk!..the price point just adds to the overall value!..can't wait for spring here!..

regards!
