F19 question all metal or disc

Low-Boy/LCPM

A person on another forum is going to lend me their F19 I have read from the guys that are selling them that it is not a deep machine...deep is sometimes over rated. But the ones that like it say All Metal is the deepest. So has anyone hunted with no disc and gets really good depth? And all metal do you get a sharp tone or a rise and fall on the tone when you go over the target? I like to hear a nice sharp tone but want to hear your advice on what you think and how you hunt to get the best depth....I'm testing the racer and hunt with the deus as my main detector..want to do some testing in iron also some real heavy iron where I would think you need a small coil and fast recovery

Low Boy,
Hope your feeling well. Use this set up in disc. I'm killing colonial nail sites.
Turn on detector(duh)
Turn on all metal
Set sensitivity to half
Set a slight threshold
Ground grab to balance
Turn off all metal
Turn sensitivity to max.
Go into menu
Volume at 11. This will let you hear all iron but at a very low volume.
V break at 39. You wont miss any good targets at 39
zero notch
zero disc.

Please use the stock coil. The magic starts here. That narrow signal response lets you get right next to iron.
Depth is excellent in spite of what folks may say. I dug a mint Spanish one re ale at 10 Inches. All metal is deep. I can get a nickel at 14 inches.
Best of luck. Tex

Chuck, would these settings also apply to the new G2+ being that they are supposed to be the same operating machine?

Thanks,

El

Thanks for you help and yes I am as of today almost 4 years in remission

Great news .:beers:

Low boy, I use the same set up Woodchiphustler uses. The only thing I may add is your sweep speed, you may need to slow down in the thicker iron. Good luck on that F19. Keep us posted. Txquest.

I'm looking to test in an area I have hunted over the years the finding are very tough and some of the ground changes and then you are in trash It is the feel of the unit that counts how it seems to react to the different dirt...

Quarter - 9.5"
Nickel - 11"
Dime - 9"
Minie .58 cal - 10"
Eagle Button - 11"

Disc mode @ 0. Wide open sensitivity. Stock coil.

All metal mode has quite a bit more "umph" if you go by just getting a signal. For example, a nickel might get an audio signal out to 13-14 inches in all metal but it will be tone only and nothing on the display.

No problem with different dirt here in Virginia.

My apologies. On my post below I meant to say George.
I would think you could. It seems the only change would be the stock coil and handle. I put the 11" coil on my F19 its now a G2 I guess.

Would anyone know on the F19 when they had trouble with them what date did it go to before they fix it.

Thanks Bill

I believe that they recalled all the early machines with the problem. Mine is July 14 and is post-problem.
