Hello all,
My name is Chip Cable and I live in Canonsburg Pa.
I just had to send an email to say thanks for all your input. I really enjoy reading your insights to the LTD and what fisher is up to. Really looking forward to what the future holds!
I also had to tell you how super pleased I am with the LTD. I really like the F75, but this machine is what I've been looking for! I am finding alot of stuff with it. We found an old ball park and have found literally dozens of silver coins and hundreds of wheat cents. I've really taken the time to learn this machine and man is it hot! In my dirt, I run it in BP, 21 disc and sensitivity around 50 and it runs silent, but bangs loud and clear up to a foot deep on good targets and even nickels bang in loud and clear. I did learn that the amount of sensitivity makes a huge difference, because if the sensitivity is too high I think it reflects from the ground back to the machine and actually reduces the sensitivity and increases the chatter. Once I've set the discrimination, I turn the sensitivity in BP up until it just starts to chatter and then back it down to make it quiet. I've played around with it alot and for my ground 50 is where the coins ring the loudest and deepest.
I've actually played with coins I've found but haven't dug to see where they read the strongest. Once again for me it works everytime in my dirt. If it chatters too much, the depth drops, but as I reduce the chatter you can hear the signal getting stronger. Then when the chatter is almost silent, the signal is the strongest. This works especially well on deep coins. There is a point I've also played around with CL a bit and it gets and additional 1-2" nice and clear. Just takes a little getting used to as it takes a moment to reset, so I don't swing it too fast. I usually use it to confirm something that I've found in BP.
I have also switched to DE from both boost modes and there really is a big difference. I found a nice 1926 standing liberty quarter the other night that was at least 8" deep and in DE is was a barely audible "dit dit", but in BP is was stronger and clearer and in CL it was loud and solid.
So, long story short I just wanted to give my personal thanks to you and the folks at Fisher for making a killer machine. I am posting pictures of some of our latest finds in the last 2 weeks
Keep up the good work!
Best regards,
Chip Cable
I now have a number of places to go back to because there was so much ground interference, but with it will be interesting with my new settings to see how quiet I can get the machine and how much depth.
