F-75 small coil

dirt doctor

Well-known member
Got out for about an hour a few days back and tried my new F-75 small coil out at two hard hit , wood chip , tot lots . I was really impressed how it picked up
targets close to metal . The 10k religious medallion was the first target to be found with it . It was at the first place I always check (right by the swings). Almost all the other targets were very near to metal bars . Good job Fisher !!

Nice finds Doc!

Good info on the coil and the metal bars. I will have to try that out.

Thanks for the pics,
Sunny Jim

The small coil has almost become a perminate mount on my F75 as I mainly hunt trashy sites and it will FLAT seek out the goodies among the trash. My latest goodie from among the trash was a 1927 British (large) One Penny. It id'ed a 74, but was was a bouncy reading and went from mid to high tones in 3h. In the clod of dirt about 2" away from the Penny was a 2" rusty screw. Both targets were id'ed. HH jim tn

Thanks,

Hey Jim-Tn,
Have you ever had a junker target in the 3H that gave a High tone?

That small coil is the Bees Knees to me!

Yes, I have. For one, small pieces of copper pipe. Although they id a little different, upper 70's, but less then 80, they are hard to pass up. Some other things will give a high tone in 3h as well, but usually reflect a wider range of id numbers and often the feo meter will indicate a bad target, too. HH jim tn

Thanks Jim Tn

So tell me how you mentally sort out a target that gives high numbers and low in determining iron junk or a digger?
Do you have a process one can follow?
Is a wide range of numbers a clue?

SJ

Hey sunny jim, yes, the wide range of numbers is the best clue and with careful listening often there will be a "click" and or a faint drawn out whine. And, of course, all thats lost upon digging a trash item is a little bit of time...and I have plenty of that to give up.:detecting: HH jim tn
