F-75 Question

Managed to get out with the F-75 today, even though the ground is still frozen. Top three or four inches of soil is thawed but pretty solid below. Had the machine set @ Disc. 0, Sens 60, Tone 2F and Process JE. GB was 87 by FASTGRAB and verified by Manual GB. Decided to turn up the Sens and noticed that as the Sens. number passed the GB number (#87), I began hearing a threshold tone. Turning the Sens number back down below the GB # and the tone went away. Switched tones and processes but that had no effect. Is this normal? Even if it isn't, no one is getting their hands on it until it absolutely needs to be fixed.

I bet what you are getting is background hum from the circuitry as opposed to a threshold line. Switch over to All Metal and see if it sounds and reacts the same as the All Metal threshold.

You might also try notching out something like a nickel and see if the hum stays or disappears when you sweep over a nickel.
