Well havent been in detecting for 30 years when I was a kid....was going to buy less expensive type but after research bought f75....I was told it wasnt push on and go and found out..it could be but not really. First time out using it found a cache of old kids cars but still didnt know what I was doing. Did some reading and experimenting. Went to park today....found found 3 coins in about a hour. Went home found 5 more coins and one car that had been gone over before. I had good audio clues and screen said what was in the ground ...except for the old canadian nickel. I detected a iffy signal and was either foil or nickel so had to dig.......I dug 12inches to find a small piece of foil....I would have liked the nickel instead but wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww small piece of foil at 1 foot? That impressed me. I read you have to take time to learn this detector and I think is true. Some people say f75 is junk but I think they just didnt take time to learn it. I think that old saying.....if you buy fish.....know your fish monger. The same is true for detecting....If you detect......know your detector.:detecting:

My next adverture is with the xlt and safari and will to head to head tests on the xlt, safari and f75. I will post results and probably sell the ones that dont do as well.

Thanks for helping me on my quest!

My tip !!! .......Don`ty WASTE your money on an XLT or Safari . The F75 is the better detector .
If you use ALL metal "motion" mode and watch what your screen is telling you, the results will be very satisfactory. Just dig All above 18 and nothing below. Use your sensitivity as high as you can comfortably use it , and dig only positive each way signals. ignore High end 95 plus as they are pretty well much always Big iron targets .

thanks I appreciate the comments but already have those detectors now too. I want to see for myself if its hype or fact on these detectors. That way I dont have to guess but glad I have the f75. Thanks for your tips also.....Im still learning ....and think I will be doing so for along time. Do you ever use the present modes or just all metal all the time? thanks James

Over the past several years I've had five different machines, the last two being the Tesoro Vaquero and Tejon before getting the F75. I can honestly state I've found more good target in three months using the F75 than all last year using the Tejon. Don't decide to quick.

For the past two years the F75 has been my main detector and I don't think I'll ever get rid of it... unless Fisher comes out with an upgraded model. It has lightning fast recovery, great balance, battery life, target separation, back light and can go deep. I just got a Safari last week as a second detector, mainly because I the F75 doesn't work well in wet beach sand (at least where I went in Southern California). I've only had the Safari out for a few hours, but can already see that the target ID of the F75 is more useful. With the F75, the numbers for silver dimes and quarters come in higher than clad dimes and quarters. Not so on the Safari. If you hunt tot lots and school playgrounds with metal equipment, leave the safari in the car. I'm looking forward to your head to head tests. Enjoy your F75!

I tend to use All Metal 90% of the time ,and the only reason if i do change is If i`m after very small elusive type coins OR thin section Gold rings , then i`ll go to JE mode .

I believe you will be very pleasantly pleased long term with your F 75. I know little about the Safari, but over the past two year's have hunted beside and after enough XLT's to know they can't hold a candle to the F 75 coinshooting trashy sites and depth wise. I run mine pretty hot usually, with disc. 4 and sen. 85-90. All metal, of course, is a little deeper, but for coinshooting, low disc. like 6, knocks out most nails and small pieces of iron and I ultimately don't have to watch the screen with every target hit. Good luck and I believe you will find the F 75 to be a "KEEPER." HH jim tn

WELL FIRST IF YOU ARE DIGGING AN OLD SIGHT NO MATTER WHAT THE VDI SAYS I WILL DIG IT ON 90 PLUS I HAVE FOUND SOME COOL 1800 AXE HEADS AND EQUIPMENT LIKE THAT. ON LOW READINGS SOMETIMES YOU HAVE IRON AND A GOOD TARGET SO EVEN ON A ONE WAY HIT IF YOU ARE RELIC HUNITNG I DIG MOST OF ALL MY TARGETS AND COME OUT MOST OF THE TIME WITH A DEEP BULLET OR BUTTON OR COIN. NICKELS THAT ARE OLD GIVE STRAGE BROKEN SOUNDS. AS FAR AS THE XLT THE FREQ IS RIGHT ON FOR COINS AND IF YOU GET A BIGFOOT YOU CAN HIT SCHOOLS AND PARKS AND CLEAN UP AND COVER A LOT OF AREA REALLY FAST. NO DETECTOR DOES IT ALL THE F75 COMES CLOSE AND IF I AM RELIC HUNTING I WILL ONLY BRING THE F75 BUT FOR TURF HUNTING IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THE FUN FACTOR AND SOMETIMES MY XLT IS ALL THE FUN I NEED. ONE YEAR IN MARIN COUNTY I FOUND TWO GRAND IN CLAD WITH THE XLT AND BIGFOOT. IT TOOK ME THREE WEEKS TO CASH IT ALL IN ON THOSE COIN MACHINES. THE NEW WHITES SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF COOL STUFF ON A MACHINE THAT SO FAR DOESN'T SHOW MUCH HELP IN MAKING THE UNIT BETTER. I WAS THINKING THREE FREQ MAYBE YOU COULD FIND GOLD FASTER OR THE HIGH FREQ WOULD BE A KILLER RELIC HUNTER BUT SO FAR I HEAR HOW HARD IT IS TO PROGRAM. COLOR IS NOT A BIG FACTOR FOR ME AND BARS AND GRAPHS JUST TAKE MORE TIME AWAY FROM DIGGING. IN THE LONG RUN IT IS THE USER AND HIS/HERS KNOWLEDGE THAT COUNTS. I HOPE WHEN FISHER TAKES THE NEXT STEP IT IS REALLY THE NEXT STEP A BETTER MACHINE THAT CAN DO A BETTER JOB AT MASKING AND GOES DEEPER WITH A MORE STABLE VDI. MAYBE A MULTY TONE IN AM THAT WORKS.

thanks all for your comment and experience.....I am learing slowly but surely......I do think the f75 is a very good machine but my head to head tests will at least be the deciding factor in what I keep....It will be interesting to say the least

Thanks again for your knowledge!:clapping:

I got one for you boys. I sometimes get a VDI reading and little or no sound in the headphones. Should I dig those signals? Is the detector that sensitive?

I think it would depend on what settings or mode you are in.....it can be very sensitive. To be safe...dig it and find out...then you can see how it is.....Make you sure fast grab...thats important. My guess would be,,,, its just some feedback or reacting to something or its set too sensitive. You can be safe and tune it down but risk missing something.

I have dug a few deep targets when there was very little vid, just the occasional bouncy number, but the audio was still a faint tic or whisper. Audio is my determining factor to dig, or not. HH jim tn

Some of the iffys could be wrap around Iron..But many are coins on edge from my experience.

You are right, Elton, particularly on those trashy and hard hit sites, about all the goodies left are masked or slanted and on edge coins. It does pay to investigate those iffy sounds. HH jim tn
