F-75 Hunt Old school 1940 era( High School) Pounded to death site.

New member
Arrived on school lot saw another guy detecting.

Unloaded F75 and waved..he took off in just a few minutes..Looked like some kind of Bounty Hunter, or Radio Shack machine from a distance.

Saw several places he dug and replaced plugs..VERY NICE JOB I MIGHT ADD...

I started detecting near where he had been and my first hit was a 1925 Wheat at 9" deep
Second hit memorial penny............4" and then varied memorials 7 more 2-3" inches

Then at 7 " another wheat cent 1944
A whatch ya ma call it next about 15"
Next a Gold colored earring 3".
Key 5"
Clad quarter at 5"
2 clad dimes 3"-4"

And then a good hit...................read 11" dug down at 8 still in the hole..at 12 still in the hole..and inch deeper still there at 14"..a 7up bottle cap Darn !!!

Sensitivity set at 40, DE mode, Notch 1, tones 3H,

No great day but fun anyway and I got out.....Now for a little problem I had no matter what I did GB stayed at 90, then it stayed at 73...would not change no matter where I GB"D.anyone else have this problem with their F75. It's a week old should I talk with Richard ( Backwoods)...................

Detector seems to have all the depth you need at 40 setting...but The ground was wet.not soggy just wet.

Well that was my couple hours of detecting..thanks for reading

Hi Elton, glad you were able to get out. It appears your new 75 is getting good depth. The g/b situation doesn't seem right, though. 90, I think is the factory g/b. 73 may be your ground, but as you g/b in different spots, there should be some g/b number differences. Maybe just minor differences if in fact your ground is about 73, but some, none the less. Good luck my friend. HH jim tn

You should continue to do well at places like that with the F75...........

I thought so to Jim..Once I got home and GB'd my yard it seemed to work fine again...maybe it was the electrical interference at the school..Lots of wires and a big building with lights everywhere..I was really impressed with only a 40 sens setting and it nailed the deepie wheats

I might have to try lowering my sensitivity. I usually run 70s and 80s. JE mode i will run lower. Hopefully I can get out tommorow. It has rained here since Thursday. Ground will be nice and wet. Good digging at least.

Hi Elton, 40 sen?? Because of the electrical interference, was that the reason for hunting in 40? I hunt one tot lot (chips) that has given me two small gold items and it is right next to a school wall that inside must contain a bunch of electrical things as my 75 goes bonkers and I can only hunt with sen of 25-30. Once I move out away from the wall a few feet, I can crank sen up gradually. Anyway, just wondering and glad to hear the g/b is working. HH jim tn

No Jim...This thing is a hot one......I am trying 25 to 40 sens seeing just how deep it will go...It seems to do OK 5 to 9 " range on Wheat's at 40 sens.....but something funny with this Made in February model F75...Air tests are lower.Only about 6 " on a dime target ..and I tried detecting a Canadian 2004 year penny in tests and it will not pick it up in preset...Wonder what they are made out of....Dead silence when swinging over the Canadian Penny ?????????????????

This F75 seems much different than my first F-75.................it just works different............not bad just different...Checking the ground balance it locks on a number and stays put unless you move a long way from your original GB spot.....My first one seemed to be all over the place on GB numbers......
I may have to trade this F75 for an Se, or e-track..HAHHAHAHAHAHA NOT................just teasing about that......but it may be too deep...LOL..............

I am going to run up sens a little each time I go out and see what happens.............My ground is really wet now so that may be why it seems so hot. I also noticed it will hit good targets that are very near bad targets better than the first F75.............Ie..pulltabs in ground and a memorial penny within 2" of each other it nails the memorial penny 61 zincs and 70-71 copper pennies..I dug a couple of holes that had both in the same digging..very impressive separation..heard both high and medium tones, and saw meter flash 40-45..and then flashed 70-71 higher tone on the copper penny.......sure enough, a penny was in the hole..so was the pull tab...
Can't go wrong with that kind of reading can you???

I just can't seem to find a spot that has Silver to see how it does.............These sights I have hunted were pounded to death sites by me and 25 other guys that detect..........they do not miss much Silver when they hit a site..........

Hey mr. "foil," where have you been? I did try different freg., but didn't do anything with the threshold. What do you suggest? Good to hear from you. HH jim tn

Jerry, thanks. I am not all that concerned about what will work in that tot lot, but I will try your settings. More importantly to me was your beach settings you posted a year or more ago that worked great for me the last time my wife and I were at the beach. Thanks, thanks, for those settings. That is o.k. if they don't want to listen to us old men anymore. That just leaves more for us old men. :detecting: Thanks Jerry, HH jim tn

"No wait a big ole silver dollar," WEEELLLL, if we get to hook up for some relic hunting later this year, I'll at least let you see what a dug one looks like. HH jim tn

Va. Beach Max  Too. I gave him the settings too. I will be back over in Fl. as soon as I get a few things taken care of. I love being Retired. I don't know how I ever got anything done when I worked 10 12 hours a day 6 and 7 days a week as a Aircraft Inspector. Getting OLD SUCKS though. Later Jim, you and Elton go find a few good ones for me OK. I am headed to our pull tab infested beach for a while today and do some beach cleaning. :D: :D: HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

Right you are Jerry about the retirement thing. I had two things to do today, drop my tax stuff off with my tax man and detector swinging. Tomorrow, I am going to my pulltab infested park. :detecting::pulltab: Take care Jerry. HH jim tn
