F-75 Finds....

Got out for a couple of hours and did fairly well...
Button, sterling silver charm, Aussie penny
3 clad dimes
5 Jefferson nickels and a 1901 V nickel
5 copper pennys
9 wheat pennys 1911 oldest
very nice 1890 Indian Head
I had hunted this site before and didn't do really well but the F-75 made the ground "come alive." Seems to like nickels a lot... 25%...
I would love to have a small coil for this detector, totally kick butt...Best to all, RichardnTn

Mark, Nickels are 75% copper plated with 25% nickel. I think that the conductivity will be determined by depth (as the machine "sees" it) and how much nickel is remaining on the coins. All of the nickels today hit the same, if I remember correctly but all are down to the copper. You raised an interesting question, I am going to test a "regular nickel" and a worn nickel to see how the 75
reads them. I think that possibly the detector will see a copper penny and an old nickel(no remaining nickel plate) the same and the regular nickel a little higher...Thanks for the question, RichardnTn

What set up were you running on the F75?

I ran the detector at default, using 3H audio. To eliminate some of the ground noise in the future, I am going to drop the sensitivity down to 50 or so, and cherry pick and then raise it back up..best to you. Gonna try the 4H setting too... RichardnTn

for some extra punch if the detector stays stable. That modes adds inches to the depth.
