F-75 and batteries

Has anyone been able to completely kill a set of alkalines yet in their F-75? This thing seems to run forever! When I first got it, I was thinking "hmmm backlight on all the time...it may burn up batteries"..

Boy, was I wrong! I have well over 40 hours on this set and the battery meter is still half full! Even when it drops down a bar, they seem to "bounce back" the next time I use it. It's amazing to me that much power in the F-75 doesn't gobble 'em up.

& someone doubted that, & pointed out that the manual says "30". I think the manual was just playing it safe...it MAY run even longer than the T2, even with the backing glow:shocked: My first set of new alcalines seemed to last well over 40.....
I'd like to try those new Panasonic Oxyrides.....then we maybe talking 60-70 hours! I think I'll also do what Andy reccomends and get a fresh set of NiMh rechargeables to just plug into the wall. I don't think rechargables will get us 40 hours, but around 30 is plenty and a sure battery $$ savings....
Bottom line....Nice to be able to go into a field or woods without having a bunch of extra batteries in your pocket...

the display screen doubles as a solar panel generating voltage when the system is on... seems that way.. I thought that 30-35 hours was good with an MXT but this is unreal..RichardnTn

it's still bobbing between 2 and 3 bars with just alkaline Bunny Batteries. I think someone must be coming in here while I sleep and changing batteries just to mess with me.
