F-70 Air Test

Merf

New member
I bought a used F-70 on E-Bay and checked it out today. All the functions seem to work OK.
Is the five year warranty only for the original buyer?
It will air test a quarter at 13 inches with max sensitivity and threshold at 0.
Is this about right for the F-70?

TIA Merf

Merf----I have a F70 & really like it.--A nice light & effective little detector IMO.---The warranty states it is only for the original purchaser (non-transferable).---Put the F75 11" DD stock coil on it & you are really "cookin" (especially in mineralized ground).---I'll leave your air test depth question with the concentric coil that came with your F70 for someone else to answer.---I don't put a lot of "stock" in air tests as all bets are off when you put that coil to the ground (especially in our nasty mineralized ground here in OR).-------Del

If so go outside GB and try another test.

Del,
Yes it should be fun to use------10 degrees outside so the only fun I can have is air testing. Merf

Here's what I get with stock coil outdoor air test. Detector must show a valid ID for the distance to be accepted.

Sens=80(a little chirpy on all HZ settings)

Thresh=0

Dime 5.5 " ID=70 ..... 13" very faint change in threshold.
Nickel 5.5" ID=31 ..... 14" very faint change in threshold.
Quarter 5.5" ID=81 ..... 14" very faint change in threshold.

Mode:
DE Disc=0

Sens=80(a little chirpy on all HZ settings)

Thresh=0

Dime 8 " ID=70
Nickel 8" ID=31
Quarter 8.5" ID=81

Mode:
SL Disc=0

Sens=80(a little chirpy on all HZ settings)

Thresh=0

Dime 8.5" ID=70
Nickel 9.5" ID=31
Quarter 11.5" ID=81

As a reference point here are links to a couple reviews I did with air tests included.
