F-4 Impressions....:please:

Fisher has done it again by double-boxing the F-4 like the F-75. The detector goes together very easy with minimum effort. I chose to start with the smaller coil and with this set-up, you can swing the detector all day with very little fatigue. Display is excellent, very bold lettering and icons with no problem seeing in bright sunlight. The detector is straight-forward to use, pretty much self-explanatory but a quick glance at the manual may be in order. Ground balancing the F-4 is very easy...switching between modes, increasing/decreasing disc/sens. is very easy. I like the 4 tone ID also.... I only hunted 10-15 minutes and couldn't even get my trowel in the ground (no significant rain in 6 weeks or more) so all I dug was targets at a couple of inches. ID was good with it locking in on coins. The processor isn't as fast as the F-75 but it does pretty good. With very little time of use, my first opinion is that Fisher has this segment of the market covered :please:... Best to all, Richard

Thanks for the post on the F4 Richard I am trying to get all the opinions I can on it, since I have one ordered & on the way. When you said (The processor isn't as fast as the F-75) does this mean how fast it responds to targets? I have heard if you lay a nail and a coin real close together the F4 will hit on both of them in all metal no matter the swing speed. Also may I ask what kind of depth do you think the F4 can get? I realize there are a number of factors that go into depth but a ballpark figure would be good. Thanks so much! Steve.

Steve,
I can't say with certainty that the processor is slower on the F-4 than the F-75. That was strictly my first impression. Really haven't had enough time for judging the depth... I personally think that this will be an excellent machine though...Tnx Richard

Richard,
I never thought I would hear myself say this, but after using the F75 for a while I am seriously thinking about selling my Explorer SE and buying something lighter/simpler for the kids to use. How would you rate the F4 for that? Any ideas what it will do in saltwater?
Thanks

absolutely love it...Not a learning curve like the F-75...easy to learn and use....Saltwater post with the F-4 below...seems to do pretty good...Tnx Richard

thought I would hunt as much with a single detector as I do. Since I got the first F-75, I haven't used anything else except the F-4 a few minutes this afternoon..... I went relic hunting for an hour or so the other day and used the JE mode and it's, again, like starting all over again...Thanks Richard

Richard, you are so right. Since getting my F75 the early part of last month, I'm not sure I've missed a day getting out with it for at least a acouple of hours. (Being retired helps) It is simply a joy to use and it just continues to amaze me of what it will do and it sounds like the F4 is of similar ilk. HH jim tn
