Okay fellas, don't laugh at me...I have sold all of the Fisher's but never taken the time to take an F-2 out and play around with it... I was very surprised at how this machine air-tested and actually detected targets....The F-2 actually made a %$#&^* and a $%*&#$ look bad.... For a $199 and an extra coil to boot...... wow is all I can say...best to all you Fisherites...Richard R

Findmall Sponser and Proudly a Fisher Dealer

BTW, I say a "Proud Fisher Dealer" because they merit it..... I have had situations that came up and had to deal with the people at Fisher.. These people are determined to see that they take care of you the customer but also the dealers... If you have any kind of a problem, they will try their very best to resolve it in a very timely manner....

hi richard!
yeah!..it would appear that a lot of people are "surprised" by the f2's performance!...maybe fisher's got a "giant" slayer here!.possibly embarrass some "heavy" artillery over time!..it has enough "punch" and the proper "tools" to do the job in trash!..could be a " sleeper" for "short money!"

Does good around the hotrocks in my area and target separation is outstanding. The 4" coil and the excellent Tone ID will smoke a trashy site. I ain't sellin mine  even if it does look like a "muffler on a stick" as someone described it and it does tip over easily, but works great for $400 detector errr ahhh $199 Sniper:smoke: HH Bill:cheers:

Bill for the original muffler on a stick MD, nothing beats the Bounty Hunters (although they reportedly work very well), and you can fix the F2/F4 tipping issue (which almost all MD's have that I've used so far) by picking up a $15 stand from a guy on eBay that makes them (they work great, I got one, but to be honest, I don't use it that often, just another thing for the headphone cord to get wrapped up on, so I just lie it on it's side when detecting):

Hey Richard, thanks for the post. I'm betting that once the dust settles, the :fisher:F2 will come out a winner. I think it's the recovery speed and learning curve that gets most of 'em. Most don't realize that the F2 is super sensitive in trashy areas. It's going to detect everything. I discovered that sometimes my F2 appears to give off false signals and beeps like crazy. Absolutely not. My 8" coil will sometimes detect targets up to 12" away, at a 90 degrees left or right of the coil. Therefore, if you dig the area under the center of the coil, you're going to miss it. I know now, to keep the sens turned down a bar or two, without loosing any real depth. It just depends on the area you're swinging. During other times, I max the sens with no problem. Weird, but true. For instance, yesterday, I was out again at the Navy Base, and dug a new dime. Now picture this. I'm swating, and the F2's on the ground next to my right leg. The coil is about a foot away from me, pointing in the opposite direction. After I put the dime in my pocket, I put my phones back on, and to my surprise the d@*m md is still beeping! Man the F2's crazy mad! But I love it!! It's all about learning the equipment. You travelers no what I mean. A2+B2=C2! Simple. The more you swing it......the more you learn. Give it a little time and it will make a believer out of you too.

sounds like it is "freakin" out because the "gain" is too high for the existing conditions..it should be tamer when the gain is turned down like you said!..it appears to separate in "nano second" real time, which truly is required in sites that are loaded with "junk!"

the 4" coil will let you hunt "junky" sidewalk easements, and also the 4 may be good to consentrate around very "old" trees so you can thoroughly cover a small area!

Hi Cal Cobra,

I read a post where the guy called the F2 a muffler on a stick and just struck me funny as it is a bit gawky, but works very well IMHO.That looks like a nice stand and know what you mean about tangled cords. Just happened to notice the F2 uses the same armcuff and stand as the 1236x2 and never had much of an issue with it tipping. NO Biggie, LOL, Good hunting, Cal. HH Bill

You got that right j.t. I hunted a park with a stone wall and slipped the 4" coil in between the gaps and hit a rosie and wheat loud and clear at about 2". For the right spot the small coils can be very productive. HH Bill

You got that right on sensitivity Bozack. Right off the bat was thinking this thing is hot on the edges and needs to be tamed a bit, especially in iron and seems to react to very small bits of metal whether it's low or high on the conductive scale.HH Bill

with outrageously good separation the 4" coil on the business end of an f2 is a "nasty" combination!..
