hello again all, here are some more finds ive made over the years i wanted to share with you. keep on swingin that machine, and happy hunting,

Wow if that is a real 1913 buffalo nickel. they are worth money. about how far down would you say you found Ur coins. And were they found mainly at parks or schools, or what? Great collection. So far i have been hunting for about 3 months. Found 2 mercury dimes, 1 buffalo nickel, and 4 Wheaties..:detecting:

well shawn i will say that yourre well on your way! small and light coins regardless of age dont go in the ground very far in my experience. it seems the older and heavier coins go a lot deeper. i have found two silver quarters before in the same yard - a 1936 and a 1937 - one was at 2 in. and the other at 4 in. and both had about the same amount of wear. soooo... i dunno. maybe they were lost 20 years apart. who knows? i do know that the earth constantly moves and shifts, so what you miss today at your favorite spot you could very well find there tommorow. thats why the older and more seasoned hunters will tell you theres no such thing as a "hunted out" spot. the 1913d type 1 nickel was found underneath a clothesline [a known hot spot] at an old house. front yards are very productive too. thats where youll find most of the coins and jewelry; when you get into the backyard, youll find more cents and kids toys. theres a definite "line" at most houses - adults would entertain company in the front half of the property while the kids played in the backyard. ive never discounted any piece of land...all ground is old to me. and i will swing my machine anywhere i legally and morally can. you can figure shawn that anywhere a man or woman has walked is a good place to go. hh,
