[/img] Was walking out to the midway and seen a sparkle in the grass , so I bent over and could see it was gold . I turned on the detector noise canceled and swept it nothing at all . 14kt gold with a small diamond neck less oh yea great start. Took me 8 hours to finish the 3rd midway strip and it payed off good. 11 wheat Penny's 1914 to 46 , Indians 1892 1902 1906 , v nickels 1896 1901 1909 , 1 buff 1926 , dimes 1900o 1903o 1904 ,mercs 1941 1944 1942s , 1964 quarter. The quarter was 4 inches deep came in at 12.32 3 pull tabs were with it .Got a 12.35 signal at 8 inches dug out the hole could not find it , started to widen the hole and seen it on edge at 6 inches 1892 Indian almost gave up on it. The 1900o barber dime was a interesting hit 6 inches down came in at 12.29 to 12.31 dug down and found a barber re swept the hole and a 1909 v nickel was with it .It was real hard to keep up with the signals in a lot of places , 8 to 10 hits with the 6 inch coil per sweep , the stock coil would have over loaded my brain , I can't tell you how much I appreciate the 6 inch coil in the crap I was hunting today . Some people want to know my total silver count from the fairgrounds this year so far 90 silvers . Really nice day to get out , hope you got out . sube

As good as CTX is, it's IMHO not a machine optimized for gold. It's a chain with clasps sitting on the ground... Just like in an air test and in air tests I could never pick anything gold where the largest piece was still a sub gram range. Chains, earring stubs were virtually transparent for the CTX regardless of the mode / sensitivity setting. The same IN the ground may or may not hit. If it hits, once unearthed, it disappears (for the CTX) again. It's like WTF, what just happened???!!!! I could not see it and it rung now I see it shine and not even a smallest blip!!! The same chain with a pendant would ring your ears off than again, a pendant without a chain would do it as well.
I love my CTX but I wish that beside "salt water" there was another check box for "fine gold". Heck, I'd be willing to pay for such an upgrade.

Sube, great day and finds, a bunch of older coins today, is this strip older than the others.
Well done!
Jon

Diggin Vt Depends how deep the top soil is , it varies 2 to10 inches the coins stop at the sand layer below the top soil is 2 inches deep or 10 . does not matter date wise v nickel or Jefferson they all stop here . Same thing happened when I finish the last strip , deeper top soil at the end older coins . I'm sure there were Indians and barbers where the top soil was only 2 inches deep ,but those coins are long gone . The only coins I have dug where the top soil is shallow were nickels and coins that had junk by them . sube

Awesome job again, Sube. You are truly the Barber dime master! 90 pieces already. Are you even half way through it?

Another awesome day Sube - what a great site. You are really getting a chance to master your machine at your pace in a spot that you are getting to know really well. It does not get much better my friend!! Well, maybe with that gold upgrade :)

test

Iv had the same EMI problem How can I handle it on my CTX Thanks, Mickfin

I have 1 midway strip to finish , it's slow going with the 6 but it's getting most of them I will try the stock coil and see what I pull out after the 6.There's 10 acres of parking across the street and 30 acres of race track to check out . I'm sure the coins well not be as old because I have been staying in the area where I have dug old coins in the past .The fairgrounds have been here for a 140 years so you could dig a old coin anywhere . I got a tip from a older gentleman where the old grandstands use to sit , they were out in the race track where it sits now away from the concrete ones that are there now . So maybe I will hit a real jackpot out there . As for finishing it maybe 5 years at the rate I'm going . sube

Another KILLER hunt!
