We are on vacation, traveling from California to Kansas then on to Illinois then back down through the southern states on our way home.

We stopped in a small town in the pan handle of Texas to take a few pictures. The town is Stafford, Texas. I got my detector out to do a little detecting by an old
Abandon restaurant and bar. Found a few clad coins, nothing to write home about.

My wife asked me to go stand by the old sign so she could get a picture. As I walked over to the sign, I looked down and there is
A chain laying on the ground. At first I thought it was a junk child's chain. As I picked it up and unfolded it I checked the clasps.
14K stamped on both clasps. Wow! What an eyeball find. 14K, beautiful 18 inch gold chain. This is my first gold chain ever. Definitely my
Best eyeball find ever. I have found hundreds of rings and other pieces of gold and silver jewelry, but never a chain. My wife and I laughed all day long,
And I had call my hunting buddy a let him know. Life is surely an adventure. You never know what is just around the next corner.

My wife is wearing the chain right now.
 
Great find! MD'ing does train the eyes to scan for surface finds, doesn't it? I've found some nice keepers that way, but no gold chains :(
