Found an old dump site; cans and broken glass everywhere. First time I was there I was just walkin around and seeing what I could find. I was there about 1-1/2 hrs and I found the old cigarette lighter and an old Chinese coin with a dragon on it--just layin on top of the ground This was pretty amazing to me; because we have all been out for a days detecting; and come home with nothing to show for our efforts that day; but a few modern coins. Well yesterday; the wife and I went back out to this location again to see what we could find and I took a sifter and shovel. Tried numerous spots; digging and sifting for about 1-1/2 hrs and guess what I found? A couple of small bottles; but not even a wheat penny-or even a marble. I'm sure plenty of people have been here before me it's not a virgin spot-you can tell a lot of diggin has been goin on here. So; I decided to do what I did last time; and just walk around lookin. I told the wife "we're not leavin till I find something good"--so she got out the tent and started setting it up. I was probably lookin around for about a half hour or so -and I see a small green disc about 8-10 ft away I yell to my nearby wife that i've found a coin-she stops with setting up camp; and comes over for a look. As I get closer; the coin appears to be about the size of a nickel and green. Probably a buffalo As I get real close and bend over and squint my eyes to help me see a little better -I can see it's not a buffalo-I can see some writing on it but can't make it out--old eyes--as my wife gets closer; I tell her "I think I've found a token!!" My wife arrives on scene to inspect. She picks it up and verifies that it is a token !!! and then says--did you bring this with you?? Planted find !!! No I Didn't !!! She was just kidding she knows me better than that.. What did I do next? After putting the token away for safe keeping ??? Grabbed the sifter and started sifting the spot where the token came from. I dug and dug and sifted and sifted this area-and what did I find ?? Nothing but a small bottle that someone else didn't want-- Weird; all the good things here--- seem to be on top of the ground!!! Well' since I had found something good it was time to leave so we packed up the tent and stuff and called it a day. When it rains here in AZ--it usually pours and the dirt and sand washes away and will often times leave coins and things laying on top of the ground. I've found coins before-- a few weeks ago- I found a 1949 silver quarter laying right on top the ground; but this is my first eyeball--- token find!!! Thanks for lookin and happy huntin out there !!
