Ill be back with pics and more info. Coin is struck in only 333 pcs and is from 1628.

Last know auction price of same type coin was USD 25.000-

Coin is a 2krone or Double krone 1628 minted under Danish king Christian IV

Coin was not in normal circulation but was minted as war payment for the crown.

Struck in 333 pcs only and before this known in 4-6 pcs it is a find of a lifetime.

This coin is in a better grade then the one that was sold for 20 k USD in 2004. ( 2004 currency exchange rates )

Found in Denmark by " Tobias " and this spring and now delivered to the Danish museum authorities.

We congratulate Tobias and his X-T 70............What a find............

That's a spectacular find and I think a heartfelt congratulations is certainly in order for the discovery of this wonderful find. (Tobias?)
Great results. The condition looks to be amazing.

Tobias is a member of the Danish detector forums.

Truly spectacular condition, maybe lost during a payment transaction at the spesific site as these where not in circulation.

Looks to be uncirculated with some small damages wich fits perfectly with the history of these coins.

Who knows, we will probably never know how it got there.

Imagine being able to see into the past at how the coin was lost and under what circumstances. Great find indeed.
Cheers!

that's a find that most of us could only dream about. Congratulations to Tobias on a remarkable find.

Thanks for all your kind remarks! Been a lurker for a while, but thought I should treat you to a photo with higher resolution and a slightly more "golden feelin'". I'm still smiling, and probably will be for some time!

Regards

Tobias

Hi Tobias, insane quality on that coin.

Hope u get the reward we all would be hoping for. Or maybe you get the coin.

Regards.

In Denmark, where I found the coin, the law states that gold coins (and other assorted goodies) found become the property of the state. However, the finder receives a kind of "finders fee", the size of which is determined by the authorities. In some instances, for example if it is not a very rare item, the finder will be allowed to keep the find. I am not expecting that to be the case regarding this coin though since only 4-6 were previously known to exist...

Not the case here, the law states all gold coins found that was minted prior to 1873 is the property of the state.

However they may find that the coin is of no significant historical value other then numismatic.

Tobias will then get the coin back, i am wondering what the reward will be if they decide to keep it though.

Hope it is going to be close to market value and give a signal out that honesty pays off.

G'day Tobias.
Welcome to the forum.
I sure hope that you will be rewarded in the same way as the English Government does for such finds (paying you full value of the coin). With only 6 possibly known to exist, then that is truly a find of a lifetime. You have made us all just a bit envious of you.:poke: (Not really., but we are all are privileged to know of such a magnificent find.)
With 330 known to have been minted, then it begs the question; where are the other 224 coins?:yikes: All jokes aside, thanks for coming onto the forum and sharing your experience with us; it is an inspiration to us all.
