Hello All,
Beautiful day out today, made it into the seventies with a strong southernly breeze.
Went to one of my favorite sites. I had been over here a couple of times earlier this year with my new other detector; trying to find what the Explorer left behind. It wasn't exactly making the place come alive again, actually the opposite, so today said "screw it" and just grabbed old faithful XS and went at it.
Any of you long-time forum readers know three/four years ago I kept missing a grand slam because I could not hustle up the Roosie.
Four of the days I missed.

There were several other days that I also found seated but couldn't complete the slam.
Anyways....
Back to today. I've found over a hundred silver in this site, perhaps a dozen seated, my 1916-D merc came from here. Used to get a roll of wheaties every trip. Those days are long gone but still manage a few finds every trip. Much more swingy than diggy these days.
First coin was the 1897 Barber, got the pretty 1925 merc a little later. Both were a little iffy because of all the iron nearby. Managed a few wheaties than got a real funny hit, got the double/triple hit that happens with shallow stuff. Seemed like a hot rock too. Almost wasn't going to dig but did. Periscope saw a target an inch or so down. I was surprised to pop a dime and see a wreath on the back, then flipped it over to see seated. First one in a long time.
Well, now I was only a roosie away from a grand slam. Most of the newer silver has long been removed so I was pretty sure this would be a partial slam. A few times in situations like this thought I should head to some undetected 1940s/50s tract housing. Should be lots of roosies there. But I'm too lazy and it was almost dark.
As I was headed towards the car got a classic silver hit. Rock solid from every direction and probably would have needed a crowbar to get the target icon out of the upper right corner. So seldom get a pure unmistakable silver hit anymore. And this was showing fairly deep on the depth meter. I was thinking maybe another seated or at least barber. But no. It was a roosie. My initial reaction was disappointment cause I had talked myself into it being older, but then quickly smiled as I realized I made a dime slam, only my second in six years with the XS.

So.... Four dimes, each a different flavor. Pretty darn efficient
Got a lot of other sites I should be hitting before fields get planted and grass starts growing.
