EXTREME Relic Hunting.....Part 1

Tony (NC)

New member
Many Thanks to Bob S. for putting us on a spot to detect this weekend (albeit a rather muddy spot ) My Dad and I hit that construction sight Friday evening for a couple of hours. Here is the bayonet that I didn't dig! Boy it sure looked good in the mud![attachment 17271 BayonNOT.jpg]

We went back in there for a couple of hours in the rain on Saturday. Muddy just might be an understatement![attachment 17272 MudStrike.jpg]

I'm not sure what this is. Anyone have a guess? It's about 18" long.[attachment 17273 ChainThing.jpg][attachment 17274 ChainThing2.jpg]

I had just dug up a 3 ringer when things took a turn for the worse. I took a step and went into the mud knee deep!:surprised: Man I got sure enough STUCK! My Dad had to come over and help pull me out. I mean I WAS STUCK! It was pretty ugly. He seemed to think it was quite funny. I got loose and took another step and in I went AGAIN! Every time this ole fat boy took a step I would go in knee deep. I ended up having to CRAWL back up the hill toward the road. I'll have to say, that's about the muddiest I have ever been. My wife won't let me put my pants in the washer. She said I would have to hose them off first! I think my boots are toast!

I'll post a few finds when I get them cleaned up.

Tony didn't tell the part about his dad being about 75 yds away and him waving and pointing to the ground like he had found a hot spot and wanted me to come over. We had to use my shovel, his shovel and I had to pull him out, he was stuck up to the knees. What a hunt, found a little and had a good time of fellowship with my Son. Frank (Tony's Dad)

You'll post the finds when you clean YOURSELF up ;)
Looks like you had fun anyhow. Bob S. was up here as his photo was in the gallery @ URI. We had a pretty good hunt Sat too.......
so who gut the Bayonet?

My Bad Bill......I don't think it's a bayonet. It sure looked like one in the mud though. When I get it cleaned up I'll post a good close up of it.
