extra sensitivity with gain

Hello Everybody
I will tell something about my experience with gain. last year i had a very good spot. It was a dirtlayer from the 14th century (the area was only 20 square meters and it was only 20 cm deep. In it was not so much metal. The first few times i only found a small pewter buckle and some coinweights. I searched there with two mates, but they didn't have anything after 6 hours. There were so many pieces of pottery that i returned another time. I was playing with the options. At a certain moment i put my gain from 5 till 8 and i swung my detector again where i heard nothing before and i heard a very week sound. I start digging and i found i very nice pewter Pilgrim badge. I thought let's try again on the same layer. Very slow i searched the entire layer and found some pewter kind of coins and a heavily goldplated back of a bible. My mates didn't had anything again. The next week i had to try again. This time option deep on fast off and gain 10. I searched the layer again and dug up all the smallest kind of sounds and normal beeps and found two other badges, a complete 12th century chandler and lots of other finds. I was astound. All the finds can be seen at:

Does anybody have the same good experience with the gain option.
Best regards Michiel from Holland
