Hello I have discovered this forum recently, great info...as Iam looking at buying a new detector,I have a few questions.I have read on this site and also found articles in Gem&Treasure magazine here in AUS that gives this machine a GREAT rap. The 4 AA battery requirement surprised me as many other detectors take many more ( my old Garrett VLF/TR takes 5, 9 volt batteries, and weighs too much).IS The XT 70 a SERIOUS detector that can be multi purpose: coin, prospect etc.
I am still a Newbie,Ihave had the old Garrett for a couple of years but is hard to GB and interpret & HEAVY.
Thanks for any reply

I use mine along with my Explorer and it has rewarded me with many a nice find. It will go a long time on the 4 AA batteries as well.

Right... it will blow away the 'Old Garrett'! I used an oldie for many years... great finds with it/ and one of the best in it's day!... but times pass and we move on... A 70 is equated to a new Plasma TV... VS your old B&W... Keep it for a great backup unit tho!... Grab one before year end for the extra access. specials!!!...best...Rich
